The Seattle Seahawks’ top-rated defense goes up against offensive powerhouse Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII this Sunday. But the game doesn’t start until 6:30 p.m. (ET) – what are you going to do beforehand, watch pre-game all day? You could. Or, you could grab your DISH remote and check out the other hotly anticipated annual championship games of 2014. I’m talking, of course, about the Puppy Bowl and Kitten Bowl!

Hallmark Channel Kitten Bowl on DISH

The inaugural Kitten Bowl kicks off at noon (ET) on the Hallmark Channel (DISH channel 185). The three-hour event will feature more than 70 adorably playful kittens – such as Meowshawn Lynch and Terry Bradclaw – romping around an obstacle course hosted by Beth Stern and radio personality John Sterling. The Kitten Bowl is a feline response to the venerable Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet (DISH channel 184). Puppy Bowl X starts at 3 p.m. (ET)  and promises a star-studded halftime show featuring none other than Keyboard Cat. First Lady Michelle Obama and First Dogs Bo and Sunny will also make an appearance. While great fun, both events also raise awareness for animal shelters. And all participants are guaranteed a good home after the events.
