The DISH antenna is 20 inches large and complies with the Satellite Consumer Bill of Rights, a regulation codified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on August 6, 1996. This regulation OVERRULES area zoning ordinances and Homeowner’s Association covenants and restrictions on DISH antennas. This rule was required by Congress in the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Some Homeowner’s associations (HOA’s) have been fighting to keep the right to restrict satellite installation by threatening tenants with dish antennas with legal action. In a few cases, the HOA’s argued that a DISH antenna installed on a roof was within the common area. The HOA’s lost this argument. The United States government is on your side in this matter.
